Ergonomics
Given the amount of time we spend in front of a computer nowadays, the impact it has on our physical health and well-being, or ergonomics, plays an important role in our choice of computer. Laptops are by design unsuitable for long-term use because the relatively small screen is placed very close to the keyboard and the two cannot be in the right position for the human body at the same time. Prolonged work in an unnatural sitting position can cause neck and back pain and even lead to poor posture. Similarly, looking at a small screen puts increased strain on the eye muscles and, over time, almost inevitably leads to visual impairment.
By contrast, if we buy a stationary computer and add a keyboard, mouse and monitor of the right size, we can design our workplace in a way that is comfortable for us and as safe as possible for our bodies, thus avoiding increased fatigue, stiffness and pain in muscles and joints, and serious health problems in the long term.
Remember! No matter what computer you are sitting at, it is advisable to take a 3-5 minute break every 60 minutes to walk around, exercise your muscles, joints and vision, alternating between near and far objects to prevent your eye muscles from getting used to the unwanted focus at a certain distance.
Advantages of a desktop computer
Mobile processors and graphics cards have become more powerful in the last couple of years but the difference between the performance of a laptop and a desktop PC is still marginal. Of course you can run modern games and even professional photo and video editing software on a laptop but at the same price point a desktop computer will offer more performance than a laptop at almost any task.
In our experience insufficient cooling is also a serious problem in laptops and there’s an easy explanation – users want their devices to be powerful yet thin and light which is almost an impossible combination to achieve. Most consumers and manufacturers prefer design and mobility over performance, which results in a visually attractive product that heats up rapidly after just few minutes or even seconds after putting an increased load on the main components. Laptop fans start spinning faster to cope with the excessive heat. This increases the noise and is very often not effective enough, so the CPU and/or GPU reaches its temperature limit and the thermal throttling (self-preservation by significantly lowering the clock speed) kicks in. That results in a big loss of performance.

If we see any shortcomings or room for improvement, we always contact the customer and provide arguments for recommended changes to the package, according to the intended application of the specific system.
Another important detail that makes us stand out from our competitors is that any changes to the computer set-up, which occasionally occur when a component runs out of stock or a better-priced or better-quality alternative is seen, are agreed with the customer. For example, if we notice that the RAM we originally chose is out of stock, but another manufacturer's model with identical or better specifications is available at the same price, we will certainly call to inform you of the situation and offer alternatives, but the customer always has the final say.

If the Windows operating system licence is ticked in the computer configurator, we will install it with all the necessary drivers so that when you receive your computer, you can use it fully from the first time you switch it on!
Warranty information
Every Dateks.lv computer set is provided with a 2-year warranty. The serial number and individual warranty period of each installed component is reflected in the warranty certificate, which is issued to the customer in printed form upon receipt of the goods. For individual components where the manufacturer's warranty period exceeds two years, we will provide full warranty service until the end of the warranty period for that particular product. Our kits are not sealed or otherwise restricted, so the owner is free to open the case to clean it, add memory or make other changes to the computer.
Each Dateks.lv computer kit is made to individual order and according to the computer components specified in the order. Therefore, a computer package is a product that is made to the customer's specifications or is clearly personalised, and the consumer cannot exercise the right of withdrawal when purchasing a computer package (Article 16 of EU Directive 2011/83/EU).
